Fibre Optic Installations
As cabling systems become larger and the need to transmit data at ever increasing rates becomes greater the need for fibre optic cabling becomes more relevant.
Whether it is used as a vertical backbone or to link buildings across a campus, fibre optic cabling offers a modern, cost-effective solution.
The major benefit of using fibre optic cable is the ability to transmit data at exceptionally high speed over long distances. This is achieved with laser light which is not prone to degradation over distance, travelling down small glass tubes. The secondary advantage is it’s resilience to external influences such as weather, water, electrical interference & lightning.
This means fibre cable can be run in environments where copper cabling would be prone to interference and cable degradation, such as underwater, next to mains cables and power lines or externally.
All of our Fibre Optic cabling services include a consultation with each client benefiting from the following process.
Free Consultation – Before your Fibre optic installation commences a member of our team will arrange a suitable time and date to meet with you and discuss your fibre requirements. We will assess your existing set-up and make a number of recommendations to help improve efficiency, speed and reliability.of your new / existing network
Pre- Installation – Our Site Survey will be written up and an official quotation will be sent out to you. Once our Quote is excepted we will then work with you to make sure that you have access to the fastest and most efficient cable for your requirements and that the installation is carried out with minimal disruption to your buisness and that we comply to all Health & Safety requirements. If there are moves or temporary measures that need to be carried out prior to installation our engineers will do this now
Installation – Your fibre optic installation starts here. Our team will carefully install the cable and make sure that it is installed to the latest industry standards & professionally managed, keeping it neat and tidy at all times.Once fully installed and tested all of our systems come with a 25 year manufacture warranty.
After sales Support – As with all of our data cabling services we will ensure that your new installation is fully optimized and correctly configured to work effortlessly. Once the installation as been completed,a full set of Test results are issued as standard in the handover documentation which also includes As built drawings & technical information about your new system. Our data cabling technical team & Engineers will be available to support you and your new system 24 hours a day with our emergency call out service.
Our Standards based, fibre optic cabling solutions are available in single mode or multimode fibres,Our sales team works alongside you to understand your requirements in order to ensure that the correct capacity of cabling is installed into your business. Fibre optic cabling is used for Backbone connectivity when data needs to travel longer distances or if greater bandwidth is required.
Fibre Optic cable is also used when the data that needs to be transmitted is of a sensitive nature. some of the types of fibre solutions we offer are detailed below.
Single mode Fibre solutions OM1 / OM2
With its smaller core size and only one available path for the light to follow single mode fibre can cover distances of up to 2000m for OS1 & 10000m for OS2 which makes it the perfect choice for when you have a greater distance to cover or for high bandwidth applications.
Multimode fibre solutions OM2/OM3 /OM4
With its larger core size and multiple paths for the light to follow Multimode fibre is generally used for much shorter distances up to 300m for OM3 and 550M for OM4 fibre, With the imminent advent of the 10G network the traditional Multimode Fibre (62.5µm OM1) no longer carries adequate bandwidth. Database Communications therefore, prefers to work with the next generation OM3/OM4 Multimode fibres, which future-proof your networks bandwidth demands.
MPO Trunk fibre solutions
These are Pre-terminated fibre links that offer a plug and play system and usually plug into a cassette which houses all the connectors these are generally used in a data center environment and come as OM3 & OM4 links capable of handling a 10G network.
There are many different methods of terminating fiibre optics from cold cure ( polishing ) to hot melt & crimp ends. where possible Database Communications likes to use a Fusion Splicer with pre-terminated pig tails as this is the fastest method but also gives the lowest db losses to insure that the link can run to its maximum performance.
All of our fibre optic installations are tested using the following testing methods Light loss in Db, this is Level one testing which shows the amount of light loss over the link. This level of testing is usually satisfactory for most applications.Level two, Optical Time Domain Reflectometer, OTDR, will produce a trace of the optical fibre showing length, any joints, splices and the attenuation of laser levels.
With all of our Fibre optic links that we install we offer a 25 year manufactures warranty where possible.
